When students complete the Special Operations Combat Medic (SOCM) course at the Joint Special Operations Medical Training Center (JSOMTC), they take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) paramedic credentialing exam. However, once functioning in their Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), they may not have opportunities for required continuing education to maintain that credential. This means that they are sometimes functioning paramedics who are not credentialed.

United States Army servicemembers must have completed the Special Operations Combat Medic (SOCM) or the 300-f1 Combat Paramedic Program (CPP). Applicants in the following US Army MOSs are eligible to be considered for admission:

18D (Special Forces Medic),
68W3P (Nationally Registered Paramedic),
68WF2 (Army Flight or Critical Care Paramedic),
68W1 (Special Operations Medic who completed the SOCOM course),

Other branches of the military also have, and train, paramedics. Additional MOSs will be evaluated before admission is granted.
