Admission Requirements for MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

To apply for the 100% online MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Methodist University, you’ll need the following:

VVOIMethodist University requires Visual Verification of Identity (VVOI) for all students seeking enrollment in any MU Online program. All applicants must complete the VVOI form and provide requested documents in the myMU portal prior to admission and enrollment. Students may also be asked to participate in a VVOI via an on-camera interview at any point during their enrollment at MU.
Additional Requirements
  • Two letters of recommendation (one letter must be from a professor or employer)

  • A typed personal statement including your background, interest in attending Methodist University, interest in the program, and your career goals

Methodist University (MU)  is a member state of the National Council State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA), which allows students in US states (other than California) to enroll in MU distance education programs. California does not participate in NC-SARA, therefore California residents are not eligible for enrollment in MU Online programs.

International Students

Methodist University welcomes international students to apply to our online programs. If you are a non-native speaker of English, a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) will be required.

Transfer Credit

You can transfer up to nine credits toward your degree.

Methodist University generally accepts credits for courses completed with a grade of C or higher from other regionally accredited institutions of higher education.

When to Apply

Apply now or call us at 910.212.4956 to make sure you’re enrolled for your intended start date. There are three start dates per year, and applications are due approximately three weeks before each term. When you apply, you’ll hear back in about one to two weeks.
