100% Online Bachelor of Social Work: Admission Requirements

Applications for admission to the Social Work program are accepted in the Fall and Spring semesters. Detailed information about the application, the application process, and due date is available on the program website.

Candidates are encouraged to apply for admission to the program in the second semester of their sophomore year. Practice courses can only be taken by students who have been formally admitted to the Program.

The following criteria must be met to be admitted to Methodist University:

Complete Application
A high school diploma or GED
Unofficial Transcripts – submission of a copy of all previous unofficial transcripts. This can lead to provisional acceptance.
*Official Transcripts will also be required to remove the provisional status and receive full acceptance
A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.25 or higher on all completed academic work
Completion of ENG 1010 and ENG 1040 with a grade of C or better completed in residence or through equivalent transfer credit
Completion of SWK 2310, 2400, and 3150 with a grade of C or better and a GPA of 2.75 or higher in courses with a SWK prefix

Transfer Credit

You can transfer up to 93 credits (or 75% of the program) toward your degree.

Methodist University generally accepts credits for courses completed with a grade of C or higher from other regionally accredited institutions of higher education.

When to Apply

Apply now or call us at 910.212.4956 to make sure you’re enrolled for your intended start date. There are three program entry points per year, and applications are due approximately three weeks before each term. When you apply, you’ll hear back in about one to two weeks.
