Prerequisites
  • 2.7 GPA

Content Area
  • 24 semester hours of coursework in the area in which they are seeking licensure or passing scores on content licensure exams

Elementary Education and Special Education
  • 24 semester hours of coursework comprised of 2–3 courses in each of the following areas: English, math, history/social science, and science for those seeking licensure in the area of elementary education or special education

Students who do not have 24 semester hours or do not meet the 2.7 GPA can enroll and complete the prerequisite coursework as part of their individualized plan.
Additional Requirements
  • Residency licensure form signed by the applicant and sponsoring school system
  • Licensure exams if used instead of coursework
  • Applicant must be employed or seeking employment with a public or public charter school
* Students who apply and do not meet all of the above criteria may be conditionally accepted to the program and given one year to fulfill those missing requirements.

Students must submit official translation and evaluation of international transcripts.

Transfer Credits

A maximum of three courses (equaling up to nine semester hours) may be waived based on exam scores. Students who have degrees in education without licensure and who have passed all content licensure exams may apply for a waiver for content/pedagogy courses.

When to Apply

Apply now or call us at 910.212.4956 to make sure you’re enrolled for your intended start date. There are three start dates per year, and applications are due approximately three weeks before each term. When you apply, you’ll hear back in about one to two weeks.
